Hello to all of you! As most of you know, I've been quite busy with family and life in general. Having all the kids home for the summer has been an adventure of epic porportions. It rained for most of June/July, with a brief respite in August that brought dry sunny days.
We did the usual things during the summer. We went to the Padre Island National Seashore twice. It is a beautiful stretch of pristine beaches. I've been trying to catch a hatchling sea turtle release, but as yet have been unable to do so. We spent a good portion of our time looking for various critters to capture and observe and found mostly fish and a few small crabs. Also, I organized a trash clean up with my family (there were 15 of us there) and we managed to pick up and remove six bags of trash from our seashore.
Six Flags was also a popular destination, when it wasn't raining. All the kids, except for Adam, were tall enough to ride their first "grownup" roller coaster, The RoadRunner Express. Duncan was the only one who chose not to ride it. Hunter, being the adrenaline junkie (just like his mama!), loved it. Natalie was a bit less electrified, but found it fun. Adam had his first introduction to big people rides with The Gully Washer, which he calls "Circle Water Ride". He loved it so much we rode it many times in succession. Connor also is finally tall enough to ride every ride in the park, which is awesome. He rode the Superman coaster with his best friend, Jonathan. He really enjoyed it.
Mac is enjoying his new job with Standard Aero. They seem to be a really good company and have lots of room for advancement. So far, everything is going well. Football season has started so all is well, lol. It seems as Mac has gotten older, he's gotten more conservative... which makes it interesting around here sometimes because as I've gotten older, I've gotten more and more liberal. I guess we balance each other out like Libra's Scales.
As for me, it's been one helluva past few months. Suffice it to say, I'm happier than I've been in a long time about a lot of things. Life is still stressful but will hopefully settle down as a routine is fashioned out of the comings and goings of all of us. There is another person who has come into my life and added much to it making it a richer and more fulfilling life. I will be picking up swimming again as soon as I settle into my routines. I look forward to it. I miss the freedom of the water and can't wait to get back in it.
Songs that suit how I feel at this time...
Also, some books that are interesting....
Take care, and look forward to hearing from you all.

For what seems to be the millionth time, we are unemployed. DH is spiraling down into a depression and I'm trying to hold it together. Why can't we seem to get a job and stick? I know contract work is unpredictable. I know that he didn't make it on the Dell Certification test (for whatever fucking reason). I don't get it? What are you trying to teach me Universe? I'm trying to be positive. Positivity manifests more positivity. I will do what i need to do, but damn it. I hate seeing him down like this. ;( It's so sad. Keep us in your thoughts, k?
What's your favorite restaurant?
Chilli's... probably because I'm addicted to chips and salsa. I don't give a hoot about their actual entrees, yk? I just want the chips and salsa. And a margarita.
This afternoon, my parents had a birthday party for me. It's a couple of days early, but, Tuesday really is a rotten day for a birthday. We had grilled pork tenderloin, green beans, and salad. Strawberry cake. The kids had a blast. They can't quite grasp that, even though I had a partay today, it's not yet my birthday. We'll have a wee family celebration on Tueday, methinks. Probably use the cake we had today and have grilled chicken, broccoli, and brown/wild rice. My favorite meal.
I'm going to be 34. That's an odd number. I will be in my mid-thirties. WTF? I still feel like I'm 19, but with more experience. Ha. "19, but with more experience". That's what 34 is to me. Who knows what this year will bring? I'm hoping I will become more responsible. More reliable.
Perhaps. Perhaps not.

Want some? I share.... :D read more
